The Guinness Men’s Six Nations is back for 2025, promising blockbuster entertainment that defines the start of the sporting year. Known as rugby’s most loved annual occasion, this iconic championship guarantees fans world-class action and an annual opportunity for players to etch their names into history.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Six Nations in its current format, following Italy’s addition in 2000. To commemorate this milestone, team Captains and Head Coaches from all six unions and federations gathered in Rome, where the Colosseum provided a fitting backdrop for a spectacular launch event.
A Championship Like No Other
With a rich history dating back to 1883, the Six Nations continues to evolve while remaining a pinnacle of global rugby. The 2025 Championship builds on its legacy, with fan engagement and competitiveness reaching unprecedented levels.
Last year, the event drew 185 million viewers across 64 countries, garnered 615 million video views on social media, and engaged nearly 300,000 fans through the Six Nations Fantasy Rugby game.
Performance on the pitch also hit new heights in 2024, with an average of 45.9 points per game, 5.3 tries per match, and a record number of upsets and comebacks. As the Championship grows more unpredictable, fans are set for an unmissable 2025 season.
Celebrating 25 Years
Speaking at the launch event, Tom Harrison, CEO of Six Nations Rugby, highlighted the Championship’s enduring appeal:
Harrison also acknowledged Italy’s role in shaping the tournament:
It is fitting that we are in Rome to celebrate the start of this year’s Championship, and 25 years of the Six Nations, since Italy joined in 2000. The experience of the tournament is truly unique, and Italy have helped shape this for fans from all over the world.
Guinness: A Longstanding Partner
