Meet our latest Bamboos: Lara Bürger and Michelle Henninger to Represent 7 Bamboos RFC
This weekend, we welcome two standout talents from Germany, Lara Bürger and Michelle Henninger, who are set to compete for 7 Bamboos RFC at the North Dorset 7s tournament. Both players are part of the Bamboos United project, an initiative that gives German players the opportunity to showcase their skills in the English 7s rugby scene.
Lara Bürger
At just 20 years old, Lara Bürger has already made significant strides in her rugby career. Representing the Heidelberger Ruder Klub (HRK), Lara has achieved multiple accolades, including:
– Competing in the 2021 Women’s 7s European Championship with the national team
– Serving as the captain for the U-18 team at the 2021 7s European Championship
– Winning the German Championship in 15s rugby in 2022
– Securing the German Championship in 7s rugby in 2022
– Clinching the German Championship in 15s rugby again in 2023
Lara’s preferred position is fly-half, where her passing, speed and agility make her a formidable opponent on the field.
Michelle Henninger
Michelle Henninger, 22, brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the team. With 12 years of playing rugby under her belt, Michelle has been a key player for RG Heidelberg. Her accomplishments include:
– Winning the German Championship in 15s rugby in 2018
– Achieving 8th place at the U18 7s European Championships in 2018
– Securing 4th place at the 2023 7s German Championships
– Representing Germany in the U18 7s national team for two years
– Playing for the 15s national team for three years
Michelle plays as a Hooker and Prop, positions that highlight her strength and technical prowess in the scrum.
