HSBC SVNS: Australia and South Africa claim Cape Town titles

Australia bounced back from their disappointing loss to New Zealand in Dubai with a flawless run in Cape Town, defeating the Black Ferns Sevens in the final.

Isabella Nasser led the way in a dominant performance, securing Player of the Final honours. France earned another podium place with a dramatic comeback against USA, while Japan edged Canada late for their third win over them in two tournaments.

In the men’s competition, South Africa thrilled the home crowd by becoming the first team to win back-to-back HSBC SVNS titles in Cape Town.

A late try from Christie Grobbelaar sealed a dramatic comeback win over Argentina, who had looked in control early in the second half. Captain Impi Visser praised his team’s resilience, noting their tough path to the final.

Earlier results saw Fiji secure third place and Dubai champions New Zealand finish fifth.
